# Wave for ChatGPT

> Wave records and transcribes your meetings, calls, and conversations. Install Wave AI Note Taker from the ChatGPT app directory and ChatGPT can search everything you've captured — in regular chats, company knowledge, and Deep Research.

**Add Wave to ChatGPT:** https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6a728ff9a378819195f095fdd162cc22

## What it does

- **Ask about any meeting you've recorded.** Ask ChatGPT in natural language — "what were the action items from Monday's standup?" — and it searches your Wave sessions semantically and answers from the real transcripts.
- **Works in Deep Research and company knowledge.** Once installed, your Wave meetings become a source ChatGPT can draw on in chats, company knowledge, and Deep Research — your own conversations, cited back to the session they came from.
- **Speaker-labeled transcripts and structured summaries.** ChatGPT gets the same data you see in Wave: exact transcripts with speaker labels, AI summaries tuned to the conversation type, and the action items Wave extracted.

## How to set it up

1. Open the Wave AI Note Taker listing in ChatGPT's plugin directory and select Install plugin.
2. Sign in to Wave in the window that opens, using the account you record with.
3. Ask ChatGPT about your meetings, or type @Wave to call it directly — no Developer Mode, no URLs to paste.
4. Install on the web and Wave is there in the ChatGPT desktop and mobile apps too.

## How to search meeting transcripts in ChatGPT

Try this with a meeting you have recorded in Wave. ChatGPT can use the saved transcript to answer a specific question; review the source before relying on the answer.

### 1. Record and connect

Record a meeting in Wave with the participants’ agreement, then let the transcript finish processing. Connect Wave from ChatGPT’s directory and sign in to the Wave account that contains the recording.

### 2. Ask about a decision

Name the meeting or give a date range so the assistant can find the right conversation. Replace the example date with one from your own library.

> Search my Wave meetings from last week. What did we decide about the website launch? Separate decisions, action items with owners, and questions that are still open. Cite the source meeting for each.

### 3. Check the source and follow up

Open the referenced Wave session and compare important details with the transcript or recording. If the answer is missing a deadline, ask the assistant to find it rather than infer one.

> Which deadlines were explicitly stated? Quote the relevant transcript passages and say when no deadline was given.

## Who it's for

- Anyone who already works in ChatGPT and wants answers grounded in their real meetings
- Teams using Deep Research who want their own conversations as a first-class source
- Professionals who record with Wave on their phone and want to query those recordings from ChatGPT

## Things to know

- ChatGPT reads what Wave has recorded — it doesn't record meetings itself. Recording happens in the Wave apps (iPhone, Android, web, desktop, Chrome extension).
- Access is OAuth-scoped: you approve what ChatGPT can do when you install the app, and you can disconnect at any time from inside ChatGPT.
- The app needs a Wave account with recordings in it. Wave's free tier includes 30 minutes of recording per month.

## Frequently asked

### What is Wave AI Note Taker in the ChatGPT app directory?

It's Wave's official ChatGPT app, built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Install it once and ChatGPT can search your Wave sessions, read speaker-labeled transcripts and AI summaries, and pull action items — using your data, with your permission.

### Does ChatGPT record my meetings?

No. Wave does the recording and transcription in its own apps. ChatGPT connects to what you've already captured — it can search and read your sessions, but recording never happens through ChatGPT.

### Do I need Developer Mode to use it?

No. Wave AI Note Taker is a published listing in the ChatGPT app directory — install it like any other app, no Developer Mode required.

### Is my meeting data used to train AI models?

Wave never uses your recordings or transcripts to train AI models. Your data belongs to you, and the app's access is scoped to your account — you can disconnect whenever you want.

### Does this work with Claude and other assistants too?

Yes. The same Wave MCP server (mcp.wave.co) powers Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok, Muse, and any other MCP client. ChatGPT is one of several one-click paths — see wave.co/agents for all of them.

### Can ChatGPT read meetings other people shared with me?

Yes. Try "Summarize the meeting Sam shared with me." Shared meetings are read-only, and search covers only your own. ChatGPT can also share yours: "Share yesterday's standup with maria@example.com." It confirms before anyone gets access.
