Wave for Claude Code

Wave records and transcribes your meetings, calls, and conversations. Two terminal commands give Claude Code the transcript of the planning call behind the feature, the customer's exact words about a bug, and the action items you agreed to — while it works on your code.

How to set it up

Run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user wave https://mcp.wave.co in your terminal.
Run claude mcp login wave and sign in to Wave in the browser window that opens.
Ask Claude Code about a meeting — for example, "read the transcript of yesterday's planning call and update the roadmap in the README."
Already connected Wave in Claude? If you sign in to Claude Code with your Claude subscription, the connector is there automatically.

How to search meeting transcripts in Claude Code

Try this with a meeting you have recorded in Wave. Claude Code can use the saved transcript to answer a specific question; review the source before relying on the answer.

1. Record and connect
Record a meeting in Wave with the participants’ agreement, then let the transcript finish processing. Add Wave with claude mcp add, run claude mcp login wave, and sign in to the Wave account that contains the recording.
2. Ask about a decision
Name the meeting or give a date range so the assistant can find the right conversation. Replace the example date with one from your own library.
Search my Wave meetings from last week. What did we decide about the website launch? Separate decisions, action items with owners, and questions that are still open. Cite the source meeting for each.
3. Check the source and follow up
Open the referenced Wave session and compare important details with the transcript or recording. If the answer is missing a deadline, ask the assistant to find it rather than infer one.
Which deadlines were explicitly stated? Quote the relevant transcript passages and say when no deadline was given.

Things to know

Claude Code reads what Wave has recorded — it doesn't record meetings itself. Recording happens in the Wave apps (iPhone, Android, web, desktop, Chrome extension).
Access is OAuth-scoped: you approve what Claude Code can do when you connect, and you can disconnect at any time from inside Claude Code.
The connector needs a Wave account with recordings in it. Wave's free tier includes 30 minutes of recording per month.

Frequently asked

Do I need to add Wave separately in Claude and Claude Code?+

Not if you sign in to Claude Code with your Claude subscription — connectors you added at claude.ai appear in Claude Code automatically. The claude mcp add command is for API-key sign-ins or when you want Wave scoped to one project.

Does it work in every project?+

Add Wave with --scope user and it's available in every project. Without it, Wave is added to the current project only.

Does Claude Code record my meetings?+

No. Wave does the recording and transcription in its own apps. Claude Code connects to what you've already captured — it can search, read, and organize, but recording never happens through Claude Code.

Is my meeting data used to train AI models?+

Wave never uses your recordings or transcripts to train AI models. Your data belongs to you, and Claude Code's access is scoped to your account — you can disconnect whenever you want.

What can Claude Code change in Wave?+

Very little on purpose. Claude Code can search and read your sessions, save action items back to a session, and file sessions into folders. It can't delete a recording or edit a transcript.
