How to translate Hindi audio to English

  1. Upload the recording. Drag in an audio or video file: an interview, a voice message, a lecture, a family video, a meeting in another language.
  2. Pick the languages. Hindi and English are already selected. Change either one if your recording needs it, or set the spoken language to auto-detect.
  3. Read, copy or download. The translation opens first, speaker by speaker with timestamps. Switch to the original transcript or the AI summary, copy the text, or download it as .txt, .srt or .vtt subtitles.

Common questions

Does it work with Hinglish?

Yes. Choose Hindi as the spoken language and English words mixed into Hindi sentences are usually kept as you said them. Lines that are already in English pass through the translation unchanged. Recordings that switch heavily can have more errors at the switch points.

Is the Hindi transcript in Devanagari?

Yes, the original transcript is written in Devanagari script, with English words that were spoken in English often left in Latin script. The translation tab shows everything in English.

Does it understand Urdu or other Indian languages?

Spoken Urdu is close enough to Hindi that conversational speech often transcribes reasonably, but it comes out in Devanagari and formal Urdu vocabulary is less reliable. Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi and other Indian languages are not among the tool's languages.

Can I get English subtitles for a Hindi video?

Yes. Download the English translation as .srt or .vtt. Each cue uses the timing of the Hindi line it translates, so it lines up with the video.

Is this audio translator really free?

Yes. You can translate up to 5 files per day (200MB each) free, with no account and no watermark. For unlimited recording and transcription, the Wave app has a free plan and paid plans from $80 a year or $15 a month.

What happens to my file?

Your file is uploaded to temporary storage, transcribed and translated. We may then keep a private copy of the audio and the original transcript to improve Wave's speech recognition. They are never published. Please don't upload recordings you aren't comfortable sharing with us.
