How to translate Vietnamese audio to English

  1. Upload the recording. Drag in an audio or video file: an interview, a voice message, a lecture, a family video, a meeting in another language.
  2. Pick the languages. Vietnamese and English are already selected. Change either one if your recording needs it, or set the spoken language to auto-detect.
  3. Read, copy or download. The translation opens first, speaker by speaker with timestamps. Switch to the original transcript or the AI summary, copy the text, or download it as .txt, .srt or .vtt subtitles.

Common questions

Does it handle Northern and Southern accents?

Both Hanoi and Saigon accents are recognized, with clear speech giving the best results. Central accents, such as Hue, and strong regional speech are harder, and tones misheard in noisy audio can change a word's meaning, so check key details in the original transcript.

How are pronouns like anh, chị and em translated?

Vietnamese pronouns carry age and relationship, which English does not. The translation reads them from context and usually renders them as I, you, he or she. If who-is-older matters, the Vietnamese original keeps the exact words.

Should I pick Vietnamese or use auto-detect?

Pick Vietnamese. Auto-detect works on longer recordings, but choosing the language yourself is more reliable for short voice messages and noisy calls.

Is there an English summary?

Yes. When English is the target, the AI summary is written in English with the main topics and any action items, so you can share the gist of a Vietnamese call quickly.

Is this audio translator really free?

Yes. You can translate up to 5 files per day (200MB each) free, with no account and no watermark. For unlimited recording and transcription, the Wave app has a free plan and paid plans from $80 a year or $15 a month.

What happens to my file?

Your file is uploaded to temporary storage, transcribed and translated. We may then keep a private copy of the audio and the original transcript to improve Wave's speech recognition. They are never published. Please don't upload recordings you aren't comfortable sharing with us.
