How to translate Korean audio to English

  1. Upload the recording. Drag in an audio or video file: an interview, a voice message, a lecture, a family video, a meeting in another language.
  2. Pick the languages. Korean and English are already selected. Change either one if your recording needs it, or set the spoken language to auto-detect.
  3. Read, copy or download. The translation opens first, speaker by speaker with timestamps. Switch to the original transcript or the AI summary, copy the text, or download it as .txt, .srt or .vtt subtitles.

Common questions

How are Korean honorifics translated?

Speech levels such as 존댓말 and 반말 have no direct English form, so they are translated as natural, appropriately polite English. Titles like 선배 or 오빠 may be kept or rendered by meaning depending on context. The Korean original is in the Original tab if the nuance matters.

Does it handle fast speech and slang?

Clear conversational Korean transcribes well. Very fast speech, several people talking over each other, background music in video clips and newer slang lower accuracy, and those errors carry into the English. Clean audio gives the best translation.

What if the recording mixes Korean and English?

Choose Korean as the spoken language if most of it is Korean. English words used mid-sentence usually come through, and lines already in English are left as they are in the translation.

Can I get English subtitles?

Yes. Download the English translation as .srt or .vtt. The cues keep the timing of the original Korean lines, so they match the video when you load them into an editor or player.

Is this audio translator really free?

Yes. You can translate up to 5 files per day (200MB each) free, with no account and no watermark. For unlimited recording and transcription, the Wave app has a free plan and paid plans from $80 a year or $15 a month.

What happens to my file?

Your file is uploaded to temporary storage, transcribed and translated. We may then keep a private copy of the audio and the original transcript to improve Wave's speech recognition. They are never published. Please don't upload recordings you aren't comfortable sharing with us.
