The Best Bee AI Alternatives in 2026
Bee is Amazon's always-listening AI wearable. It turns the day's conversations into summaries and to-dos, then deletes the audio. If you want a recording you can replay, a device that isn't owned by Amazon, or no new gadget at all, these are the options worth looking at.
Prices and plan details on this page are as of November 2026 and come from the sources listed at the bottom. Hardware in this category changes fast: Bee replaced its original Pioneer device with new hardware in October 2026, and Limitless stopped selling its Pendant after Meta bought the company.
What Bee does today
Amazon’s acquisition of Bee was reported in July 2025. The current device, Bee Frontier, costs $74.99, clips on or goes on the wrist, and runs up to 7 days on a charge. A phone-mounted Bee Eclipse ($99.99) is listed as coming soon. The free tier gives summaries and recaps with 14 days of memory; Bee Pro is $11.99 a month and adds unlimited summaries, Alexa+ and third-party integrations, with a 30 days free trial.
The trade-off that sends most people looking: Bee processes audio and then deletes it, so there is no recording to play back when you need to check exactly what someone said.
1. Wave for Smart Watch and phone — no new device
Wave AI is an AI note taker that runs on the phone and watch you already wear. Wave for Smart Watch works on Apple Watch (watchOS 10 or later) and on Wear OS 3 or later watches such as Galaxy Watch and Pixel Watch.
- Tap to record, not always-on. You start each recording yourself. That is a real difference from Bee: Wave won’t capture your whole day passively, but it also only records the conversations you choose.
- Works away from your phone. The watch records offline and holds recordings until your phone is back in range, then the phone uploads them.
- You keep the audio. Each recording becomes a session with the original audio, a speaker-labeled transcript, an AI summary, and action items.
- Beyond the wrist. The same account records phone calls, joins Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams meetings, and records on Mac and Windows.
Wave is free for 30 minutes of recording a month. Wave Pro is $15 a month, or $80 a year on the web, with unlimited recording.
2. Plaud NotePin — a dedicated pin that keeps recordings
Plaud NotePin costs $159 and the Plaud NotePin S $179. Each includes the free Starter plan (300 min/month); Pro is $17.99 a month or $8.33 a month billed yearly for 1,200 min/month. You press to record, so it is closer to Wave’s model than Bee’s. See our Plaud alternatives guide.
3. Omi — open-source, all-day pendant
Omi is $169, and Omi says both its hardware and software are open source. The free plan includes unlimited on-phone transcription, 5 hours of cloud recording a month, 30 Ask Omi questions a month. Pro is $29.99 a month or $269.91 a year. Battery is rated at 10–14 hours. It is the closest match to Bee’s always-listening idea without Amazon in the picture.
4. Limitless Pendant — no longer sold
Limitless was acquired by Meta and stopped selling the Pendant on 2025-12-05. Existing owners are supported through 2026 on the Unlimited plan at no charge, but you can’t buy one new. Our Limitless alternatives page covers what to use instead.
5. Sandbar Stream — a ring, not shipping yet
Sandbar Stream is a note-taking ring at $249, sold as a pre-order; next batch ships January 2027, US only. Worth watching; not something you can rely on today.
6. Phone-first apps
If you don’t need anything on your body, a recorder app on your phone covers in-person conversations. Apple’s Voice Memos and Notes and Google’s Recorder (on Pixel) are free. Otter and Wave add AI summaries and a searchable archive on both iPhone and Android.
