Turbo AI Review: Is the Student Note Taker Worth It?
Turbo AI turns lectures, PDFs, and YouTube videos into notes, flashcards, and quizzes, and it has a huge following among students. Here is what it does well, what it leaves out, what it costs, and who should use something else.
This review is based on Turbo AI’s own site, its app store listings, and press coverage, all linked below and checked in November 2026. We did not run a controlled accuracy test.
What Turbo AI is
Turbo AI launched in 2024 as TurboLearn and rebranded on 2025-09-30. It claims 10,000,000+ learners (company claim). It runs on web, iPhone and iPad, Android.
What Turbo AI does well
- Study tools built in. Notes, flashcards, quizzes, and podcasts come from the same upload, and flashcards and quizzes are in the free tier.
- Many inputs. Record a lecture live or upload PDFs, YouTube videos, DOCX files, audio files, your own notes.
- Chat with your material. Ask questions answered from what you uploaded.
- Students like it. 4.7 on the App Store from 34K ratings and 4.7 on Google Play from 318,352.
Where Turbo AI falls short
- Opaque pricing. There is no public pricing page, and free-plan limits aren’t published. TechCrunch reported that the company A/B tests prices.
- Lecture-shaped. The app listing doesn’t describe phone-call recording, and there is no smart watch app listed.
- Unpublished limits. Maximum recording length and any paid-plan caps aren’t stated, so test a full-length lecture before you rely on it.
Turbo AI pricing as of November 2026
At its 2025 rebrand Turbo AI quoted Premium from $9.99 a month billed yearly, or $19.99 month to month. The US App Store currently lists in-app purchases from $9.99/week to $119.99/year, so the price you see may differ. Check in the app before paying, and compare a yearly plan against the weekly option.
Who Turbo AI is for
Students who want an upload-to-flashcards pipeline and spend most of their recording time in lectures. If quizzing yourself is how you study, Turbo is a strong pick.
The alternative if you record more than class
Wave AI is built for students and working people who record everywhere: lectures, office hours, job interviews, phone calls, and Zoom or Teams meetings, plus recordings started from an Apple Watch or Wear OS watch. Wave keeps the audio, labels speakers, and can write a Lecture-to-Study Guide summary. It doesn’t make flashcards or quizzes. Wave is free for 30 minutes a month; Wave Pro is $15 a month or $80 a year on the web. Compare more options in Turbo AI alternatives.
