Limitless Pendant Alternatives After the Meta Acquisition
Limitless stopped selling its Pendant when Meta acquired the company, ended service in several regions, and switched off recording in its desktop and web apps. If you used it, or wanted one, here is what still works in 2026.
Facts on this page are as of November 2026 and are linked at the bottom. We could not confirm the Pendant’s last list price from a first-party page, so it is not quoted here.
What happened to Limitless
- Meta acquired Limitless, and the Pendant stopped selling to new customers on 2025-12-05.
- Existing Pendant owners are supported through 2026 on the Unlimited plan at no charge, after accepting updated terms.
- Recording in the desktop and web apps stopped; past meetings viewable through 2026.
- Service ended in the EU, UK, Brazil, China, Israel, South Korea, Turkey.
So the question for owners is not whether the Pendant still works today, but where your recordings live after 2026. Exporting what you have now is worth doing either way.
1. Wave — the Pendant’s job without the pendant
Wave AI covers the Pendant’s two jobs, in-person conversations and meetings, on hardware you already own:
- On your wrist. Wave for Smart Watch records from Apple Watch or Wear OS watches like Galaxy Watch and Pixel Watch, even without your phone nearby. You tap to start; it is not always-on.
- Meetings without the desktop app gap. The Wave desktop app records mic and system audio on Mac and Windows with no bot, and a calendar bot can join Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams. That replaces the Limitless desktop recording that was switched off.
- Phone calls and imports. Record calls from Wave, and import existing audio and video files into the same searchable library.
- Ask your archive. Speaker-labeled transcripts, summaries, and a chat that answers questions across every session, the closest thing to Limitless’s “ask about my day” idea.
Free for 30 minutes a month; Wave Pro is $15 a month or $80 a year on the web for unlimited recording.
2. Bee — Amazon’s always-on wearable
Bee Frontier is $74.99, with a free tier and Bee Pro at $11.99 a month. Like the Pendant it listens through the day, but it deletes the audio after processing. Note that it trades one big-tech owner for another. More in our Bee AI alternatives guide.
3. Omi — open-source pendant
Omi costs $169, works without a subscription on its free plan (unlimited on-phone transcription, 5 hours of cloud recording a month, 30 Ask Omi questions a month), and offers Pro at $29.99 a month. Omi says its hardware and software are open source, which matters if the Limitless shutdown made you wary of closed devices.
4. Plaud NotePin — press to record, keeps the file
Plaud NotePin is $159 (Plaud NotePin S $179). The free Starter plan includes 300 min/month; Unlimited is $29.99 a month or $20 a month billed yearly.
At a glance
| Option | Device cost | Always-on | Records video meetings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Limitless Pendant | No longer sold | Yes | Desktop recording stopped |
| Wave | None (phone, watch, computer) | No, tap to record | Yes, desktop app or bot |
| Bee | $74.99 | Yes | Not published |
| Omi | $169 | Yes | Not published |
| Plaud NotePin | $159 | No, press to record | Not published |
The bottom line
If you loved passive all-day capture, Omi is the nearest replacement and Bee the most polished. If you mostly used the Pendant for meetings and conversations you chose to capture, Wave covers that on the watch, phone, and computer you already have, and adds phone calls.
